Join Bilzin Sumberg For Their New Miami Breakfast Series | Public-Private Partnerships | February 14th, 8am

Bilzin Sumberg invites you to attend the inaugural session of the New Miami Breakfast Series: “Public-Private Partnerships: Why They Are Growing in Popularity and Their Impact on South Florida.” This event will take place on February 14, 2013, from  8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the firm’s offices located at 1450 Brickell Avenue, 23rd Floor, Miami, FL 33131.

The most flexible relationship between the government and a private contractor is a public-private partnership, commonly referred to as a P3, in which government and the private sector both share in the risks and rewards of a project. P3s have been a popular means of structuring large public infrastructure and transportation projects abroad. The United States, during the economic downturn, witnessed a significant increase in P3 activity, as has South Florida. Join us for a lively panel discussion on the P3 boom in New Miami and successful structures.

Moderator: Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Government Relations & Land Development Practice Group Leader, Bilzin Sumberg

Panelists:

Kim Briesemeister, Principal, Redevelopment Management Associates

Josh Gelfman, Senior Vice President, New York City Economic Development Corp.

Brian Peters, Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration, Florida Department of Transportation

Javier Rodriguez, Executive Director, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority

Application for the AAJ Women for Social Justice Education Fund’s Mike Eidson Scholarship 2013

As the world’s largest trial bar, AAJ promotes justice and fairness for injured persons, safeguards victims’ rights—particularly the right to trial by jury—and strengthens the civil justice system through education and disclosure of information critical to public health and safety. AAJ fights daily to protect the civil justice system against corporations and powerful individuals.

The Mike Eidson Scholarship Fund was established by the AAJ Women for Justice Education Fund in 2008, in honor of AAJ Past President Mike Eidson, whose vision and generosity inspired it. The Scholarship, traditionally in the amount of $5,000.00, is awarded annually to a rising 3L (or rising 4L in a night program) female student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career as a plaintiffs’ lawyer or criminal defense lawyer, along with dedication to upholding and defending the principles of the Constitution, and to the concept of a fair trial, the adversary system, and a just result for the injured, the accused, and those whose rights are jeopardized.

If you are interested in submitting an application to be considered for this scholarship, or wish to nominate someone for this scholarship, complete the required form and return to Catherine Rodman, by mail at: AAJ Education, 777 6th Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20001, or by email by May 1, 2013.
