The Union Internationale des Avocats Presents the Jacques Leroy International Prize Student Competition

The International Association of Lawyers (UIA – Union Internationale des Avocats) brings together over 2, 000 individual members and 200 bar, federation and association members, from more than 110 countries. The UIA is Open to all the world’s lawyers, both general practitioners and specialists. Its members also include legal professionals, judges, law students and teachers. The UIA is a multilingual and multicultural organisation, and is the only major international lawyers’ organisation to have adopted French, English and Spanish as its working languages.

Students who wish to participate in this prize must send a dissertation (plea, study, commentary of a practical case) before June 30, 2013 that deals with the following theme: “Fair Trade: how can we establish rules that are specific and realistic?”.

Key Information:

Candidates must send the UIA a file containing the following information:

  • their written entry, which must be between 15,000 and 20,000 characters long (spaces included);
  • a summary presentation of the entry in 2,000 characters (spaces included);
  • a curriculum vitae;
  • a letter introducing the candidate written by a University law professor;
  • proof of being enrolled in their University (photocopy of a valid student card or a certificate issued by the University).

These documents may be in English, French or Spanish.

Entries must reach the UIA by letter or email by June 30, 2013, at the latest.
