It is also intended to attract students to the Criminal Justice practice field, and to encourage scholarship in this field. The Use of Drones by Law Enforcement—How should drones enhance public safety, how should drones be regulated, and what role does the Fourth Amendment play? For example, drones could assist police with pursuits of armed individuals or help find missing people. On the other hand, drones can peer into people’s windows in the upper floors of a high rise. Drones can carry many different devices – high resolution cameras, sensitive microphones, weapons, GPS trackers. Is this comparable to or different from these devices being in a police car?

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: (1) writing quality; (2) analysis and legal reasoning; (3) originality; (4) quality and use of research; and (5) compliance with these Rules. 2019 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program

Loyola University Chicago School of Law is hosting the 2019 Patent Law Interview Program on Thursday and Friday, July 25-26 in Chicago, Illinois.  This nationwide interview program targets patent law employers and rising 2L and 3L patent bar eligible students.

Last year roughly 140 employers, 190 law schools, and 1,100 law students from across the country participated in the program.  The program is entirely pre-selected, which means that students submit application materials to apply to interviews with the employers they are interested in, and employers then review their materials and select the students they wish to interview at the program.  Last year, approximately half of the participating students were selected for interviews.

Students with undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or a technical science should consider registering for the program.  Please note that the vast majority of employers participating in the program are seeking patent bar eligible students.

For more information on the program, please refer to the Loyola Patent Program website. Online student registration for this year’s Patent Law Interview Program will begin on Tuesday, February 5 and close on Thursday, February 28.

Students can register here. At this stage of registration, you will only need to enter some basic information (you will upload your resume and bid on interviews later in the semester).

There is a non-refundable $40 dollar registration fee that you must pay by credit card to complete your online registration.  Please have your credit card ready when you register.  The University of Miami School of Law will reimburse your registration fee.  After you register, please email Karen Warren in the CDO for further instructions on the reimbursement process.

Once you have registered, the program staff will communicate with you directly via email to the address that you entered when registering for the program.
