The Cuban American Bar Foundation (“CABF” or “CABA Foundation”) will be awarding At-Large Scholarships to law students who meet the criteria set forth below. The application deadline for this year’s application package is Thursday, July 1 2021.
Applicants need only submit one application package to be considered for all At-Large Scholarships. The CABA Foundation Board of Directors will make its selections from the submissions received and formally announce the scholarship recipients at an upcoming CABF/CABA Event by August 1, 2021. CABA Foundation awards scholarships on the basis of a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to, the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, References, Personal Essay and Financial Need. CABA Foundation pays scholarship funds directly to the recipient. Scholarships are awarded annually. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.
CRITERIA
- Applicant must be a law student of Cuban heritage who has distinguished himself/herself academically and/or in service-oriented activities; OR any law student who has distinguished himself/herself in research, writing, community services, and/or other activities of importance to the Cuban-American community;
- Applicant must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing at an accredited law school;
- Applicant must submit a complete formal application for a CABA Foundation Scholarship;
- Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States; and
- Applicants must complete and submit a typed Scholarship Application and provide all supporting documents listed below (i.e., resume, evidence of enrollment, etc.) no later than July 1, 2021.
TIMELINE
- Applications and supporting documentation are due no later than July 1, 2021.
- Candidates may be asked for an interview by the Scholarship Committee, conducted in June.
- Applicants are notified if awarded a scholarship by August 1, 2021.
In addition to the At-Large Scholarships, CABF has endowed scholarships at the following law schools:
- University of Miami
- Florida International University
- Thomas University
- Nova Southeastern University
- Florida State University
- University of Florida
Students enrolled in these law schools should contact the Dean of Students in his or her respective school to get scholarship criteria and application deadlines. July 1, 2021 is the latest for acceptance of school submittals. Recipients of these endowed scholarships will also be announced at the upcoming scholarship event by August 1, 2021.
