Florida Supreme Court Internship Program for Distinguished Florida Law Students
Applications are now being accepted for the Florida Supreme Court Internship Program for Distinguished Florida Law Students for summer 2010 (open to 1Ls and 2Ls). Interns are selected from all accredited Florida law schools. Participants in this program will function as law clerks to an individual justice, a central staff law clerk working for all of the justices, or a law clerk working for the clerk of the court and the administrative justice. Duties will include: reviewing and making recommendations on petitions for discretionary review, attorney discipline matters, and extraordinary writ petitions; and conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on pending cases. Interns will have the opportunity to attend oral argument, discuss cases with staff attorneys and the assigned justices, and assist in the drafting of orders and opinions. Interns will also attend special lectures, group discussions and training sessions. Interns will be awarded a certificate of recognition upon successful completion of the program. The Summer 2010 program will begin with orientation on Monday, May 17, 2010 and the term will end on Friday, July 9, 2010. Students are entitled to receive up to 6 course credits for participation in this program.
Applications are available in the Career Development Office, Room A112. The deadline to submit applications to Dean Marcy Cox (Career Development Office, Rm. A112) is Monday, February 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 16th at 12:30 p.m. in Room 108.
