Harvard Law School Seeks a Judicial Clerkship and Career Advisor
Harvard Law School is seeking a full-time Judicial Clerkship and Career Advisor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides clerkship advising to students and alumni and general career advising for JD and LLM students
- Reports to the Associate Director and Director of Judicial Clerkships
- Advises students and alumni seeking judicial clerkships about the structure of and strategy for application process
- Monitors hiring status of federal and state judges to identify specific opportunities and prepares periodic reports on status of clerkship hiring
- Plans and presents career programs and develops online resources
- Also serves as general career advisor for JD and LLM students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Knowledge of the judicial clerkship application process
- JD degree preferred
- Private sector legal practice experience and experience as a judicial clerk preferred
- Experience working in a career services office preferred
- Superior interpersonal, written and oral presentation skills including comfort with public speaking; proven team orientation; outstanding problem solving abilities;
- A strong work ethic, superb judgment; a sense of humor and enthusiastic approach to his or her work
- Solid technology skills including comfort with databases and Microsoft Office products
This term position will begin on or after July 1, 2014.
This is a term appointment currently expected to extend through June 30, 2015, subject to funding and departmental need.
