Harvard Law School Seeks a Judicial Clerkship and Career Advisor

Harvard Law School is seeking a full-time Judicial Clerkship and Career Advisor.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides clerkship advising to students and alumni and general career advising for JD and LLM students
  • Reports to the Associate Director and Director of Judicial Clerkships
  • Advises students and alumni seeking judicial clerkships about the structure of and strategy for application process
  • Monitors hiring status of federal and state judges to identify specific opportunities and prepares periodic reports on status of clerkship hiring
  • Plans and presents career programs and develops online resources
  • Also serves as general career advisor for JD and LLM students

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of the judicial clerkship application process
  • JD degree preferred
  • Private sector legal practice experience and experience as a judicial clerk preferred
  • Experience working in a career services office preferred
  • Superior interpersonal, written and oral presentation skills including comfort with public speaking; proven team orientation; outstanding problem solving abilities;
  • A strong work ethic, superb judgment; a sense of humor and enthusiastic approach to his or her work
  • Solid technology skills including comfort with databases and Microsoft Office products

This term position will begin on or after July 1, 2014.

This is a term appointment currently expected to extend through June 30, 2015, subject to funding and departmental need.
