The Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation Summer Fellowship Program

The Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation will provide four summer fellowships to first and second year law students who are either enrolled in a Florida law school or who are verified Florida residents attending an out- of-state law school. Each summer fellowship will be in the amount of $5,000.

The Scholarship Committee’s selection criteria will include evidence of performance indicative of likely future success in the field of law. The Scholarship Committee will consider, among other things, academic excellence, commitment to community service, commitment to diversity, and leadership skills.

Students are responsible for securing their own summer employment opportunities in the areas of government, judiciary or public interest. Summer employment opportunities must last for a minimum of six weeks and must be unpaid. Interested applicants should not be deterred if they have not identified their summer employment opportunity upon submission of this application. Students are encouraged to use their career offices to assist with identifying and securing suitable summer employment.

Upon notification of a summer fellowship award, students must accept or decline the fellowship within seven calendar days.

Prior to commencing employment, students must provide to the Scholarship Committee written documentation of summer employment that includes: (1) student name; (2) employer name; (3) employer address; (4) proposed dates of employment; and (5) name of supervisor. This information should be addressed to the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation, Scholarship Committee, 2525 Ponce de Leon, 9th Floor, Coral Gables, FL 33134 or via email.
