AFSCME and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute Seeking Campaign Workers for Careers in the Labor Movement
AFSCME and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute are seeking motivated progressive activists and campaign workers for careers in the Labor Movement.
The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute will be holding a 3-day union organizer training on November 16-18, 2012 in Orlando, FL. If you are looking for an activist/organizing job following the November 2012 Federal and State Elections this is an excellent opportunity.
Participants will be trained in the basics of union organizing campaigns, as well as the fundamental skills that organizers need to help workers form and join unions.
At this training participants will learn:
- One-on-one communication skills
- How to move workers to take action
- Leadership identification
- Basic elements of a union organizing campaign
From the training, organizers from AFSCME and the AFL-CIO will be selecting talented participants to enter a paid field apprenticeship with the possibility of a permanent organizing position. Participants must be able to travel and potentially relocate.
The training will begin at 10am Friday November 16th and end at 12 noon on Sunday November 18th.
There is no cost to participants. Meals will be provided. For participants accepted from outside the Orlando, FL area, if overnight lodging is needed, it will be provided at no cost to the participant.
