From the CDO: Two New Summer Honors Program Opportunities for 2L Students
The CDO would like to provide you with information on two additional summer honors program opportunities with government agencies available to 2L students. Both programs are listed in the Symplicity Job Posting Database. Please note that the first program listed is with the SEC and that applications should be sent as soon as possible as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
1. U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) Summer Honors Program (Symplicity Posting #10185): Second-year law students should apply now for SEC internships. The SEC will hire interns in Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco. Students may apply to SEC offices in up to three cities. Students who apply to the Washington DC headquarters are automatically considered by all of the groups there, including the divisions of Corporation Finance, Enforcement, Investment Management, Risk, Strategy & Financial Innovation, and Trading & Markets. This is an unpaid, volunteer position that may qualify for externship credit through the Externship Program.
2. U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Summer Honors Legal Internship Program (Symplicity Posting #10182): The U.S. Department of Defense is currently accepting applications for its Summer Honors Legal Internship Program. Interns will be assigned to specific offices within the DoD Office of General Counsel (OGC) such as the Offices of the Deputy General Counsels for Acquisition & Logistics, Environment and Installations, Fiscal, International Affairs, Intelligence, Legal Counsel, or Personnel & Health Policy; the Standards of Conduct Office; and other DLSA offices such as the Offices of General Counsel for Washington Headquarters Service and the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. There are few, if any, offices that can provide summer law clerks the diversity of practice areas and experiences that are available as an OSD Honors Legal Intern in DoD OGC.
