Monday, February 6th, Perspectives of the General Counsel: Meeting the Needs of Non-Profits, 12:30 pm, F109: Do you aspire to work in a General Counsel’s Office or serve the legal needs of non-profits? If yes, then this is a must-see presentation! Lunch will be provided.
Monday, February 6th, Screening: Voices of Haiti: A Post-Quake Odyssey in Verse, 6:30 pm, Frost School of Music: The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, partnering with the UM School of Communication, will showcase this performance about the lives of Haitians after the earthquake that devastated their country just two years ago. Monday, February 6th, Screening: The Pruitt-Igoe Myth, 6 pm, Architecture Center: As part of its Focus on Affordable Housing Initiative, the Office of Civic and Community Engagement will screen this film, which explores the social, economic and legislative issues that led to the decline of conventional public housing in America. Tuesday, February 7th, Summer Opportunities Coffee Talk, 12:30 – 1:45 pm, Bricks: Do you have questions about the many opportunities available to you this summer? Thursday, February 9th, Small Claims Clinic, 5 – 8 pm, Legal Services of Greater Miami: Law students have the opportunity to conduct client intake and sit side-by-side with attorneys assisting low-income individuals, who cannot afford an attorney, with initiating their own small claims case. Spanish and Creole interpreters are needed. Email Daniela Gordon if interested.

Saturday, February 11th, Raising the Bar: Florida’s Legal Community Service Day, 10 am – 12 pm, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens: Raising the Bar is a statewide community service day organized by the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Law Student Division. This year’s project is to clean up the historic gardens and maintain the aesthetic beauty of this renowned park in South Florida. Please RSVP to Estefania Nasielski.
Sunday, February 12th, Band Together for Legal Aid, 5 – 9 pm, The Stage: Attend the first annual Battle of the Bands, kicking off Dade Legal Aid’s fundraising efforts for 2012. The event will showcase live music from groups featuring prominent lawyers from South Florida. $10 tickets can be purchased online at www.dadelegalaid.org.
