McDermott Minority Scholarship Application

Scholarship Award:

McDermott Will & Emery will award two $15,000 McDermott Minority Scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements:

Scholarship recipients must be second-year minority law students at an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, must meet McDermott’s hiring criteria and demonstrate leadership, community involvement and a commitment to improving diversity in the legal community. Recipients must also be selected for and participate in a McDermott Summer Program.

Application Process:

All interested students must submit an application, resume, transcript and 1 – 2 page essay by December 31. The essay should include ideas the applicant has for how the number of minority students in law schools can be increased and how the applicant has improved and intends to help improve diversity in the legal profession throughout his/her law school and legal career.

Selection Process

Applicants will go through the on-campus interview process or will be considered as a write-in if attending a law school at which McDermott does not interview on-campus during fall recruiting season. Applicants will be considered by the office(s) to which they apply for both callback and offer decisions.

Award Notification:

Scholarship recipients will be announced in early January.
