The 18th<\/sup> annual Employee Benefits Writing Competition<\/strong> sponsored by the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup>) is now open.  Entries in the writing competition may be submitted at any time between now and June 1, 2022.  ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> will recognize up to two winning papers with cash awards of $1,800 each.  ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> will also pay travel and lodging expenses for each winning student and the student\u2019s guest to attend, and be recognized at, the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> annual meeting in Chicago on September 17, 2022.  The primary purposes of the writing competition are to encourage legal scholarship in areas of concern or interest in the employee benefits field and to foster interest in promising students in the practice of employee benefits law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attached is a pdf<\/a> document announcing the writing competition, identifying the related awards, and setting forth the writing competition rules.\u00a0 We encourage any interested law school student, including LLM or SJD candidates, to submit a paper on a legal topic of the student\u2019s choice in the employee benefits field.\u00a0 Please check the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> website for additional information, including a list of winning papers over the years, at ACEBC Employee Benefits Writing Competition for Law Students\u00a0|\u00a0ACEBC<\/a> or you may direct specific questions to Frances King Quick<\/a> with a copy to here<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The writing competition has received papers from students at schools across the nation. Last year\u2019s winners were from the University of Chicago and Arizona State University.  The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to elevating the standards and advancing the public’s understanding of the practice of employee benefits law. In pursuit of these goals, the ACEBC\u00ae<\/sup> encourages the study and development of employee benefits laws, initiates professional discussions of significant employee benefits issues, and sponsors this writing competition and an extensive list of continuing legal education programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
