FAMILY LAW NEW VOLUNTEER TRAINING<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Two-part volunteer training:<\/p>\n

Part I:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Online self-study (2.25 hours) – completed by Wednesday, October 20, 2021<\/p>\n

Part II:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Online Practicum (2.5 hours) – Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – VIA ZOOM<\/p>\n

What <\/em><\/strong>You Will Learn and Do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join our Remote Volunteer Services Program (RSVP) to conduct substantive legal interviews by phone with prospective clients. Learn the basic concepts of family law and common problems faced by clients with the added challenges of poverty and trauma. You\u2019ll learn issue-spot and strengthen your client-centered interviewing skills while working under the guidance of experienced Harriett Buhai Center attorneys.<\/p>\n

Why<\/em><\/strong> You Should Volunteer:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our volunteer program is ideal for lawyers, law students, and law graduates who want to use their skills, experience, and education to help others. It is a perfect choice for individuals interested in addressing the needs of low-income families, protecting survivors of domestic violence and shepherding children to safer and more stable lives. Retired professionals, lawyers returning to the workforce, and individuals at home caring for others are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Who<\/em><\/strong> You Should Contact:<\/strong><\/p>\n

To register, please complete our Volunteer Application<\/a> and Confidentiality Agreement<\/a> and email together with your resume here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0voluntary pledge of 50 hours a year is requested.<\/p>\n

Deadline to register: Wednesday, October 13th, 2021. Attendance is limited.<\/strong><\/p>\n
