The Sovereignty Symposium XXXIIII <\/strong>– 2021 <\/strong>will be held at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on October 11-12, 2021. We invite papers on any issue concerning Native American law.<\/p>\n

DOOLIN PRIZE FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS,<\/u> GRADUATE STUDENTS, LAW STUDENTS AND GRADUATE<\/u> LAW STUDENTS:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This competition is open to any student enrolled in an accredited college, in<\/u> a graduate or undergraduate program.<\/u> First, second, and third prizes in the amounts of $1,000, $750 <\/strong>and $500.00 <\/strong>will be awarded . The winning entry will be published in the 2021 Symposium book. Second and third place entries will be published if space permits.<\/p>\n

HARGRAVE PRIZE FOR WRITINGS BY THE SOVEREIGN SYMPOSIUM<\/u> FACULTY:<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cash awards will be given in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000 and $750.00 for the best three original and previously unpublished papers included in the Symposium publication.<\/p>\n

HAGER PRIZE FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS,<\/u> GRADUATE STUDENTS, LAW STUDENTS AND GRADUATE<\/u> LAW STUDENTS:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hager Prize of $1,000 will be awarded for the\u00a0 best writing\u00a0 on the ICWA or any\u00a0 legal\u00a0 issue\u00a0 concerning \u00a0Native\u00a0 American\u00a0 juveniles. The\u00a0 winning entry will also be published in the 2021 Symposium book.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The entries in the writing competitions must not be more than fifty (50) single-spaced pages in length. The paper used shall be 8-1\/2″ x 11″ in size. The title of the paper, the name of the author and a current mailing address and telephone number must be placed on a cover page. Only the title of the paper should appear at the top of the first page of the text.<\/p>\n

The author’s name should appear on the cover page only. Papers must be submitted in <\/em>Word or\u00a0\u00a0 Word Perfect format. Email the formatted version via email<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Use a 12-point font in Times New Roman format. Again, the document should be single spaced. The left and right margins must be 2″; the top and bottom margins must be 1.5″.<\/p>\n
