Drawing on his groundbreaking research on one of the most tragic racial incidents in Florida\u2019s history, Dr. Dunn will recount the story of Rosewood, explore the ramifications of the events that transpired for the local African-American community in the years that followed, and discuss his search for the graves of the black victims of the 1923 massacre that destroyed the town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DATE:<\/strong>\u00a0Wednesday, March 24<\/p>\n<p><strong>TIME:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a012:00 p.m. &#8211; 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Zoom registration is required.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/bilzinsumberg.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_Fy3-Y0A6Sra0DOdwTx9Llg\">click here<\/a> to save your spot and register via Zoom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About\u00a0Dr. Marvin Dunn<\/strong>: Dr. Marvin Dunn, a native Floridian, is Professor Emeritus and retired Chairman of the Department of Psychology at Florida International University. Born during the Jim Crow era, he brings a perspective to black history that has been missed, distorted, and minimalized in the past. He co- authored \u201cThe Miami Riot of 1980: Crossing the Bounds\u201d (1984), and authored \u201cBlack Miami in the Twentieth Century\u201d (1997) and \u201cA History of Florida Through Black Eyes\u201d (2016). Dr. Dunn appears regularly on local and national television broadcasts, providing insight on race issues in America. He has been published in major newspapers, and he is a nationally respected scholar, author, historian, and community activist in race and ethnic relations.
