Students and &#8217;18 Grads Enter ASAP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If\/When\/How, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reprorights.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center for Reproductive Rights<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.berkeley.edu\/research\/center-on-reproductive-rights-and-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Center on Reproductive Rights and Justice<\/a>\u00a0now invite submissions for the 14th annual Sarah Weddington Writing Prize for New Student Scholarship in Reproductive Rights. More information on how to apply, the length and type of accepted submissions, and on the suggested theme for this year\u2019s prize are available via the download button at left.<\/p>\n<p>Winning authors will receive cash prizes: $750 (1st place), $500 (2nd place), or $250 (3rd place), and a copy of the textbook\u00a0<em>Cases on Reproductive Rights and Justice<\/em>\u00a0(Murray &amp; Luker). The first-place winning submission will also be granted a \u201cpresumption of publishability\u201d and receive expedited review by the\u00a0<em>Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law &amp; Justice<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The suggested theme for this year is \u201cDemocracy, Governance, and Reproductive Justice.\u201d Drawing on case law and statutory interpretation, discuss the role of law in making reproductive justice a reality. Submissions might explore how voter disenfranchisement, administrative and judicial appointments, or other issues of civic engagement and governmental responsibility can be viewed through an intersectional, reproductive justice lens.
