{"id":6351,"date":"2014-02-24T19:15:15","date_gmt":"2014-02-24T22:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=6351"},"modified":"2014-02-24T19:15:15","modified_gmt":"2014-02-24T22:15:15","slug":"federal-communications-bar-association-foundation-2014-law-school-scholarship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=6351","title":{"rendered":"FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS BAR ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION 2014 LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <b>Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation<\/b>, a non-profit charitable and educational organization created under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, was established in 1991.\u00a0 The Foundation provides FCBA members with a vehicle for serving the community through volunteer efforts.\u00a0 Over 2,000 private and government lawyers, law students and others interested in the field of communications law belong to the FCBA and the Foundation.\u00a0 The Foundation also funds and awards various scholarships and internship stipends to students in college and law school.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Foundation&#8217;s mission is to:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>(1) Support worthwhile communications-related and educational projects as well as other community service projects, particularly those directed towards children and students, through financial contributions and volunteer services provided by Foundation members and others; and<\/p>\n<p>(2) Foster greater public awareness and understanding of the development of communications technology, resources, and law.<\/p>\n<p><b>FCBA<\/b><b> Foundation Law School<\/b><b> Scholarship:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>During its FY 2014, the FCBA Foundation will award scholarships to law students in their second and third years of study who are attending any accredited law school in the United States.\u00a0 Competitive awards will be based upon the financial need of the applicant, and may range from $2,500 to $10,000 annually.<\/p>\n<p><b>Applicant Selection:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This is both a merit and needs-based scholarship. \u00a0Applicants must demonstrate strength of character, superior academic achievement, and a strong interest in pursuing a career in communications law. \u00a0Applicants will be selected on the basis of: (1) a demonstrated interest in the communications law field; (2) dependence on financial assistance in order to attend law school; and (3) their law school record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications for the FCBA Law School Scholarship funding should be submitted to <a title=\"link\" href=\"mailto:kerry@fcba.org\" target=\"_blank\">Kerry Loughney<\/a>, FCBA Foundation, 1020 \u00a0 19th Street, NW, Suite 325, Washington, DC 20036.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Applications must be received by regular mail or email by Tuesday, April 1, 2014<\/span>. \u00a0Applicants may be asked to interview with members of the Foundation Board;
