Application Deadline: September 6, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Human Rights Watch (\u201cHRW\u201d) is seeking a Researcher for its US Program to investigate, document and advocate against human rights abuses experienced by immigrants in the United \u00a0 States.\u00a0 The Researcher will report to the Director of the US Program.\u00a0 The position may be based in one of HRW\u2019s offices in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles or San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>Human Rights Watch<b><i> <\/i><\/b>is an international human rights monitoring and advocacy organization known for its in-depth investigations, its incisive and timely reporting, its innovative and high-profile advocacy campaigns, and its success in changing the human rights-related policies and practices of\u00a0influential governments\u00a0and international institutions.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Responsibilities<\/span><\/i><\/b><i>:<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Some of the responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify issues or trends that should be US Program priorities by communicating with wide range of participants in and observers of the immigration system (e.g. <i>inter alia<\/i> immigrants and their family members, service providers, legal services organizations, judges, immigration enforcement personnel, police, academics and journalists);<\/li>\n<li>Research, document and analyze policies and practices of federal immigration agencies and states involved in immigration policies as well as international comparisons;<\/li>\n<li>Write reliable, comprehensive and timely reports (often including images, audio, data analysis, and\/or online tools) on human rights abuses experienced by immigrants and their families.<\/li>\n<li>Write op-eds, press releases, briefing memos, statements, testimony and other materials;<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to change abusive laws, policies and practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Qualifications<\/span><\/i><\/b><i>:<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Education: <\/b>\u00a0A US law degree or an advanced degree in US immigration law\/policy, journalism or a related field is required.<\/p>\n<p><b>Experience:<\/b>\u00a0 Minimum five years of relevant experience is required.<\/p>\n<p><b>Related Skills and Knowledge:\u00a0 See <a title=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/law-miami-csm.symplicity.com\/students\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Symplicity<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Other:<\/b> S\/he must be willing to travel frequently and be prepared to spend extensive periods in the field.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Salary and Benefits<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><i>:\u00a0 <\/i><\/b>HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits.\u00a0 HRW will pay reasonable relocation expenses and will assist employees in obtaining necessary work authorization, if required;
