As a Field Counsel you will represent the company and its policyholders in civil litigation matters involving claims for money damages or compensation for personal injury or property damage of a moderate value with moderately complex legal issues.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Responsibilities<\/span><\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use Litigation Protocols\u00a0to develop and revise appropriate legal strategy for discovery,\u00a0investigation, handling and trial\/hearing of cases or matters<\/li>\n<li>Conduct necessary and\u00a0appropriate discovery, hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments,\u00a0mediations, arbitrations and similar proceedings<\/li>\n<li>Research the law\u00a0applicable to cases or matters; drafts legal documents, pleadings, motions,\u00a0briefs and opinions as required. If requested, conduct settlement\u00a0negotiations<\/li>\n<li>Advise, communicate and\u00a0confer with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, rendering clear,\u00a0unambiguous legal opinions and advice. Personally meet with, and maintain\u00a0good relations and communications with Claims Representatives and Insured\u00a0Clients as required<\/li>\n<li>Remain current with\u00a0developments in the law; understand medical, scientific, construction,\u00a0products, engineering or similar issues and defenses involved with cases\u00a0or matters<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and conduct\u00a0training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments as required<\/li>\n<li>Provide daily direction\u00a0and guidance to junior attorneys<\/li>\n<li>Understand and creatively\u00a0use technology; apply technology to the process of law to improve qualit and reduce cost<\/li>\n<li>Act as a team or group\u00a0leader for an assigned group within the office<\/li>\n<li>Interface with Home Office\u00a0Legal department<\/li>\n<li>Completion of law school\u00a0with LLB or JD and admission to the bar<\/li>\n<li>Special license to\u00a0practice before a particular board or federal court may be necessary<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 1 successful\u00a0year experience as an attorney<\/li>\n<li>A general knowledge of\u00a0insurance law and specific understanding of the operations and\u00a0requirements of insured clients, customers and the company<\/li>\n<li>The ability to effectively communicate and persuade by written or spoken word is critical<\/li>\n<li>Experience and ability appropriate to the level of cases or matters handled<b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Benefits<\/span><\/b>:<\/p>\n<p>We recognize that talented people are attracted to companies that provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits packages and outstanding advancement opportunities.
