{"id":4468,"date":"2012-10-26T09:24:41","date_gmt":"2012-10-26T12:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=4468"},"modified":"2012-10-26T09:24:41","modified_gmt":"2012-10-26T12:24:41","slug":"afscme-and-the-afl-cio-organizing-institute-seeking-campaign-workers-for-careers-in-the-labor-movement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=4468","title":{"rendered":"AFSCME and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute Seeking Campaign Workers for Careers in the Labor Movement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFSCME and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute are seeking motivated progressive activists and campaign workers for careers in the Labor Movement.<\/p>\n<p>The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute will be holding a 3-day union organizer training on November 16-18, 2012 in Orlando, FL.\u00a0 If you are looking for an activist\/organizing job following the November 2012 Federal and State Elections this is an excellent opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will be trained in the basics of union organizing campaigns, as well as the fundamental skills that organizers need to help workers form and join unions.<\/p>\n<p>At this training participants will learn:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One-on-one communication skills<\/li>\n<li>How to move workers to take action<\/li>\n<li>Leadership identification<\/li>\n<li>Basic elements of a union organizing campaign<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the training, organizers from AFSCME and the AFL-CIO will be selecting talented participants to enter a paid field apprenticeship with the possibility of a permanent organizing position.\u00a0 Participants must be able to travel and potentially relocate.<\/p>\n<p>The training will begin at <strong>10am Friday November 16th and end at 12 noon on Sunday November 18th.\u00a0<sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no cost to participants.\u00a0 Meals will be provided.\u00a0 For participants accepted from outside the \u00a0Orlando, FL area, if overnight lodging is needed, it will be provided at no cost to the participant.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">To Apply Online<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>Visit the <a title=\"link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aflcio.org\/oinonunion\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For Questions: Please email <a title=\"link\" href=\"mailto:amarsall@aflcio.org  \" target=\"_blank\">TJ Marsallo <\/a>at the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFSCME and The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute are seeking motivated progressive activists and campaign workers for careers in the Labor Movement.
