HUD\u2019s Office of General Counsel is responsible for providing legal services that support and facilitate HUD\u2019s mission of creating strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable housing.<\/p>\n<p>In order to apply, students must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a third-year law student who will receive a J.D. on or before June 30,\u00a02012 OR be a judicial law clerk; AND<\/li>\n<li>Be able to assume the position on or\u00a0before September 30, 2013; AND<\/li>\n<li>Be able to communicate effectively; AND<\/li>\n<li>Not be admitted to any State or\u00a0territories of theU.S.;\u00a0AND<\/li>\n<li>Meet one of the following: Have at least a B average; or, be in the top 50% of the class; or, have relevant work\u00a0experience; or, have special training; or, have engaged in significant\u00a0extracurricular activities (law review, moot court, clinical program).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply for a Legal Honors position at HUD, an original and two copies of the following must be submitted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The application form<\/li>\n<li>A completed Resume<\/li>\n<li>An official law school transcript The official transcript (e.g. certified and\/or sealed) must be submitted with law school\u2019s grading system explanation attached. <strong>Please do not have your law school forward your transcript separately. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A legal writing sample of five to ten pages max (double-spaced)<\/li>\n<li>A list of at least three references (professional or academic)<\/li>\n<li>Attach your resume, transcript (with explanation of grading), writing sample, and references behind the Legal Honors Program application, (no special binding or staples).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Brochures containing detailed information about HUD and its Legal Honors Program are available in the \u201cFederal Agencies\u201d bin in the CDO Resource Room.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The application deadline is September 28, 2012<\/span><\/strong>.
