{"id":2586,"date":"2011-11-14T18:01:55","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T21:01:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=2586"},"modified":"2011-11-14T18:01:55","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T21:01:55","slug":"just-the-beginning-foundation-and-judicial-resources-committee-joint-internship-diversity-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cdo.law.miami.edu\/?p=2586","title":{"rendered":"Just The Beginning Foundation and Judicial Resources Committee Joint Internship Diversity Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Judicial Resources Committee and the Just The Beginning Foundation are pleased to announce that the Joint Internship Diversity Project is entering its second year.\u00a0 The Project\u2019s ultimate goal is to share the judicial internship experience with minority, underrepresented, or economically disadvantaged law students.\u00a0 The Project is national in scope and will place 50 students as judicial interns in federal judges\u2019 chambers across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Interns will be given substantive legal assignments, likely involving motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, magistrate judge reports, and habeas corpus petitions through which the intern will be exposed to a variety of procedural and substantive issues.\u00a0 Interns will have the opportunity to draft bench memoranda, judicial orders, and opinions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The application process will proceed as follows.\u00a0 Following the applicant\u2019s electronic submission of application materials, there will be a two-step review process.\u00a0 Should an applicant pass the initial review, the applicant will then be interviewed, either in-person or via telephone.\u00a0 Selected applicants will then be referred to one of the Program\u2019s Participating Judges for a second interview.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should possess strong research and writing skills and be prepared to handle the rigors of working in a federal court.\u00a0 Applicants commit to a minimum internship period of six, full-time weeks and attend mandatory training workshops prior to the beginning of the internship, either in-person or via videoconference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All\u00a0application materials must be <a title=\"link\" href=\"mailto:jrcjtbf@gmail.com \" target=\"_blank\">e-mailed <\/a>by<strong> 5 P.M.
