Schola2Juris is an intensive, practice-specific fall apprenticeship that provides\u00a0students a unique opportunity to gain\u00a0practical law firm training while earning a $10,000 scholarship. The apprenticeships that are offered to students are actual job openings with Waller Lansden that, depending on individual performance, will lead to employment after graduation.\u00a0 The Class of 2012 will be able to apply for a Schola2Juris Apprentice position starting on July 5th, 2011.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Waller Lansden Dortch &amp; Davis\u00a0will be accepting apprentice applications from third-year law students for the following practice areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Corporate<\/li>\n<li>Finance and Restructuring<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare Regulatory<\/li>\n<li>Intellectual Property<\/li>\n<li>Labor &amp; Employment<\/li>\n<li>Real Estate<\/li>\n<li>Tax<\/li>\n<li>Trial &amp; Appellate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apprentices will work closely with an associate and partner mentor in the assigned practice area.\u00a0\u00a0Students will work on a training module that is specifically designed to\u00a0lead them through the life cycle of a client matter. \u00a0Each group\u2019s hypothetical contains different components specific to that particular area of law and provides a unique look into real client work. \u00a0The majority of\u00a0the training will take place via a virtual conference center and\u00a0students will be given a laptop with the appropriate software and video equipment necessary to participate. \u00a0Work should not exceed 15 hours each week.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the practice specific training, our apprentices will be expected to go to the firm\u2019s Nashville office September 23-26 for practice group job shadowing, business of law courses (including Law Firm Economics and Business Development), firm parties and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Students accepted into the program will receive a $10,000 scholarship to be paid the spring semester of the third year of law school and be eligible for a full time position after graduation.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n<strong>Program Dates:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application process begins &#8211; July 5th<\/li>\n<li>In-house Interviews \u2013 August 8-12th<\/li>\n<li>Apprentice Selections Announcement \u2013 August 15-17th<\/li>\n<li>Schola2Juris Program Begins \u2013 September 2nd \u2013 students will meet with their advisors and get hypothetical assignments<\/li>\n<li>Waller Lansden Fall Apprentice Retreat \u2013 September 23-26th<\/li>\n<li>Job Offer Day \u2013 October 14th<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rising third year law students from an ABA-accredited law school<\/li>\n<li>Excellent law school grades<\/li>\n<li>Moot Court, Law Journal, or similar experience preferred<\/li>\n<li>Strong research and writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong teamwork ethic<\/li>\n<li>Strong intellectual curiosity<\/li>\n<li>Prior work experience preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students should prepare\u00a0a cover letter, resume, transcripts and writing sample.
