Bio Technology Company Seeking Part-Time Corporate Counsel

Position Summary

Working under the direction of the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, this attorney will support all aspects of the business, which may include contract drafting and review, advising on general areas of risk, providing solutions that balance risks in achieving strategic goals.  Contract review will be approximately 50-60% of responsibilities; general legal (products liability, labor and employment, acquisitions and divestitures, corporate registration/licensing compliance) remaining portion. Part time role, may become a full-time position as business grows.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned; likely to include: draft, review, edit common agreements (e.g. NDAs, 1099 independent contractor, sales and distribution, material transfer, license, inventions and non-compete, separation pay and release, lease)  
  • Work with business leaders throughout the organization to understand needs and how to support from legal/compliance perspective.  
  • Support projects that may commonly arise for a corporation: requires independent decision-making balanced with keeping key stakeholders informed.   

Position Expertise/Qualifications: 

  • Admitted to practice law in at least one state; graduate of an ABA-approved law school.  
  • In-house Life sciences experience is most preferred; Healthcare-related commercial experience and/or in-house experience is also preferred. 
  • 6+ years of relevant lawyer experience
  • 5 years of office work involving customer service or technology

Education                     

  • Bachelors Degree; JD Degree in Life Sciences or related field 

Skills & Abilities

MS Office,  legal research,  organization skills are critical to understand tasks assigned, deliverables expected, due dates, timely and relevant communication up and across an organization. Positive attitude towards a goal of quality, recognizing that rework will decrease and quality will improve throughout the 10-week experience.
